XL Corner Modular Nest

The XL Corner Modular Nest is a 90-degree angle frame designed to position the XL Big Green Egg at the corner junction of an L-shaped outdoor kitchen layout. Precision-engineered from powder-coated aluminum, it includes five adjustable levelers and is compatible with optional 4-inch casters for mobility. The Corner Modular Nest integrates seamlessly with the rest of the Big Green Egg Modular Nest System, allowing Expansion Frames and inserts to extend outward from the corner in either direction. It is the newest addition to the Modular Nest System and was developed to address the needs of outdoor kitchen designs that use a right-angle layout.

Corner Configuration for L-Shaped Layouts

The Corner Modular Nest is designed specifically for outdoor kitchens where the EGG needs to anchor a 90-degree corner. Unlike a standard linear EGG Frame, the Corner Frame holds the EGG at the inside corner of an L-shaped station, with two legs of the modular system extending outward from the corner in perpendicular directions. This configuration is appropriate for kitchens built along two adjacent walls or fences, for L-shaped deck arrangements where the EGG is the focal point, and for any outdoor cooking space where the available footprint follows a right-angle plan rather than a straight line. The Corner Modular Nest positions the XL EGG at a comfortable cooking height at the corner and creates the 90-degree junction needed for a modular system to extend in two directions.

Powder-Coated Aluminum Construction

The XL Corner Modular Nest is constructed from powder-coated aluminum throughout. Aluminum provides a combination of corrosion resistance, weather durability, and manageable weight that makes it appropriate for a permanent outdoor installation. The powder-coat finish protects the aluminum from UV exposure and moisture and is consistent in color and texture with other Modular Nest System components, so the Corner Nest integrates visually with adjacent Expansion Frames and EGG Frames without mismatched finishes.

Five Levelers for Stability

Five adjustable levelers are included with the XL Corner Modular Nest and allow the frame to be set perfectly level on any flat outdoor surface. At the corner of a modular station, precise leveling is particularly important because the Corner Frame is the junction point to which both legs of the L-shaped system are anchored. A well-leveled Corner Frame ensures that Expansion Frames added on either leg sit at the same height and connect without stress in the frame connections. The five leveler positions distributed across the Corner Frame’s wider footprint provide stable and precise leveling adjustment.

Optional Caster Mobility

The XL Corner Modular Nest is compatible with optional 4-inch (10.2 centimeter) casters available separately from the Big Green Egg accessory catalog. When casters are installed in place of the levelers, the entire corner station becomes mobile and can be rolled to a new position on a flat patio or deck surface. Given the weight of the XL EGG and the additional mass of a full Modular Nest corner station, casters with locking mechanisms are recommended to secure the station in position during cooking.

Modular Nest System Compatibility

The XL Corner Modular Nest integrates with all Modular Nest System components using the same standardized connector system as the standard EGG Frames and Expansion Frames. Expansion Frames can be connected to either leg of the Corner Nest to build out the outdoor kitchen in both directions from the corner. All standard Modular Nest inserts, including acacia wood, stainless steel grid, and solid stainless steel, fit into the insert positions of the Corner Nest and any connected Expansion Frames. The corner design was developed to be a natural extension of the existing Modular Nest platform, with full compatibility for components already in an owner’s setup.

Building an L-Shaped Outdoor Kitchen

An L-shaped outdoor kitchen centered on the XL Corner Modular Nest can be assembled incrementally. The Corner Nest provides the EGG position and the corner junction. Expansion Frames are added on each leg of the L to create counter space and lower shelf storage. Inserts are placed in the Expansion Frame module positions to create the desired surface configuration. Casters or levelers are installed depending on whether mobility or fixed stability is the priority. As the outdoor kitchen grows, additional Expansion Frames and inserts can be added to either leg without modifying the original Corner Nest.
