The Medium EGG Frame with Stainless Grid Insert is the base unit of a Modular Nest outdoor cooking station built around the Medium Big Green Egg. It is constructed from powder-coated aluminum and steel, includes a stainless steel grid shelf insert on the lower level, side-mounted tool hooks, and four adjustable leveling feet. The EGG Frame positions the Medium EGG at a comfortable cooking height and serves as the starting point for a modular outdoor kitchen that can expand with Expansion Frames and inserts over time.

Construction and Finish

The Medium EGG Frame uses powder-coated aluminum for the upper frame and legs and steel for the lower shelf frame and cross beams. The aluminum sections provide corrosion resistance and keep the frame weight manageable, while the steel lower components provide the structural rigidity needed to support the weight of the Medium EGG at cooking height. The powder-coat finish on all components is durable in outdoor conditions, resistant to UV degradation, and consistent with the appearance of other Modular Nest System components. The finish is designed to weather predictably over time in outdoor cooking environments without flaking or peeling.

Dimensions and Module Compatibility

The Medium EGG Frame shares the same module width as the Large and XL EGG Frames at 76 centimeters wide by 77 centimeters high (approximately 30 by 30 inches). This standardized dimension is what allows different EGG size frames and Expansion Frames to connect side by side in a single outdoor kitchen installation. A Medium EGG Frame can be placed adjacent to a Large or XL EGG Frame with compatible Expansion Frames between them, creating a multi-EGG cooking station within the same modular system.

Stainless Grid Insert and Storage

The included stainless steel grid insert fits into the lower shelf frame and provides ventilated storage below the EGG for accessories, charcoal, or cooking equipment. The insert is made from 304-grade stainless steel and is interchangeable with acacia wood and solid stainless steel inserts from the Modular Nest System. This interchangeability means the lower shelf surface can be reconfigured at any time to match the owner’s preference or storage needs without modifying the frame.

Tool Hooks and Cooking Organization

Side-mounted tool hooks are integrated into the Medium EGG Frame structure and provide hanging positions for Grid Grippers, Ash Tools, and other accessories. Having dedicated tool positions on the frame keeps the cooking area organized and reduces reliance on separate tool stands or surface space for equipment storage. The hooks are positioned at a height that makes them accessible during cooking without requiring the cook to step away from the EGG.

Leveling Feet and Mobility

Four adjustable leveling feet allow the Medium EGG Frame to be set level on any flat surface, compensating for minor surface irregularities. The feet positions are also compatible with the Big Green Egg 4-inch Caster Kit, which can be installed to make the frame mobile on flat patio surfaces. With casters installed, the entire Medium EGG cooking station can be rolled to a new position when needed.

Expandability

The Medium EGG Frame is the starting point for a Modular Nest outdoor kitchen that can grow over time. Expansion Frames connect to either side of the EGG Frame using the standardized connector system, each adding a full module of counter space and lower shelf storage. Acacia wood, stainless steel grid, and solid stainless inserts can be placed in any module position in any combination. Starting with the Medium EGG Frame, the outdoor kitchen can grow to any size without replacing any of the original components.
